The Core Fundamentals

·       Grip and Stance: The foundation of all skills. Players must master the correct hand placement (often the “V” grip) and maintain a low, athletic stance with bent knees and a straight back for balance and field vision.

·       Moving with the Ball (Dribbling): Controlling the ball while in motion. Players learn to manipulate the ball with both sides of the stick and maintain “Indian dribble” control without looking down.

·       Passing: Distributing the ball accurately. The push pass is the most essential for controlled, flat distribution without a backswing. Players later advance to hits, sweeps, and aerials.

·       Receiving (Stopping): Cushioning and controlling a moving ball cleanly with the stick into available space. A wide stance and extended right arm are key to keeping the ball safe from defenders
